Mental State
Sometimes I wonder how the UAE became so different from the other GCC states especially Kuwait and Bahrain in terms of a man's mentality towards women. The older generation were much saner than the one now.
Don't get me wrong, in the UAE women are encouraged to pursue whatever they want, but I'm talkin about the way most of the men think and act towards their wives or sisters.
It's unbelievable how things are so segregated here. Both husband and wife live seperate lives and go out together occasionaly. Forget that. His demands over what his wife is NOT supposed to do is crazy. The only thing he wouldn't object to is career (and thats some), but the rest....JESUS. Normal things are a tabboo:
Hangin out with his/her friends and partners (group outings)... Play sports or go on adventure trips with him such as scuba diving, hiking, camping, whatever...Perform a talent to an audience...and much more.
It's called Double F'n standards. Because they are so different with non-emarati gurls. I can't take this. I know there are some men out here who are much better than this and more open-minded. Rare stuff.
It's also a two-way thing, some gurls lack control.... (another post)
Humph. I'm grateful that my brothers don't think from their !$% and my parents allow me to do whatever because we set our principles as we were growing up by being exposed to whatever was right and wrong.

You're right. I blame it on the one night transition that Dubai went through. With the money spilling in that country, I think the guys there are going crazy. It's alright to date in public a non Emarati woman, but it's totally against his manhood to take his Emarati wife out for a dinner, etc etc. I'm not sure how they think. BUT, I'm sure there are some who are exempted ;)

N.A. I don't understand. I mean Instead of moving forward, some guys object to stupid issues such as whether the sheila is on ur head or not, driving a mini cooper or 4 wheel, takin their wives on vacation to 'new and exotic' countries..and more stupid matters that's not even worth thinking about..because IT'S NORMAL!

Sexy G,
I'm glad you brought up this topic.
I have only one explanation to it. I know Emarat, Dubai in particular, had just recently boomed exponentially(by "recently" I mean the past 20 yrs). Bahrain and Kuwait transferred themselves long before Emarat--So, I believe Emarati's do not want to lose their what I so call "traditions" with this fast vast transformation.
However, I don't have any explanation for their "over-protectiveness" of their spouses and sisters. I know it might get out of control sometimes, BUT, I also believe its all in the sister's or wife's hand to mitigate this problem. I can go on and on, but I dont want to overflow your comment section lol.
Please post similar topics =) It certainly kept me thinkin'
